Living Wages White Paper

In 2022 52% of families that received emergency assistance from the Northside Neighborhood House reported employment, but the average yearly income was only $20,088. Assist Limited, Income Constrained, Employed or ALICE households are present in every community and are often left in need of assistance to make ends meet. The common problem that all ALICE households face is the imbalance of wages and the rising cost of basic living. Low wages limit access to needed resources and prevent households from reaching stability. Read our latest white paper on Living Wages to learn more about the challenges faced by ALICE households and explore the impact higher wages could have on workers, businesses, and society. Our goal is to inform policymakers, businesses, and individuals about the potential of providing a living wage as a means to address income inequality and improve the well-being of our neighbors.
